An aesthetic and symbolical analysis of Utagawa Kuniyoshi’s (1798-1861) tryptic Yoshiwara Sparrows’ Temporary Nest. His sociological messages were not discovered by Tenpo censors who were in charge of controlling artistic output in 19th century Japan.
