I never imagined just how hot and humid New York would get in the summer. Having spent the past few summers on the West Coast and in Europe, where the summers are dry and pools were abundant, I was not at all prepared to trade in refreshing pool waters and salty ocean waves for pools of - well, no need to beat around the bush - pure sweat (and unfortunately not just my own… Forgive the nasty confessions, but if you’ve used the New York subway, you know what I’m talking about)…

All gross sweaty things aside, I’m finally at peace with the fact that I have to revert to simply daydreaming about those past memories. Those cold brews and sunny tunes that always came hand in hand with my lazy poolside summer days (or might I say, summer daze), although seconds away in my memory were miles away in reality. When the days in New York get particularly heavy and the memories particularly distant, I find that the best vehicle to those light and refreshing summer times lies in its’ reminiscent tunes.

So if you’ve been searching for a good poolside playlist, if you’re in the need for refreshing tunes - or even something to crank up the heat occasionally, stop sweating and start cranking up this playlist: it’s hot and cool in all the right places.
