Clay and Friends Release Video, Create New Genre

Clay and Friends is back with a brand-new release featuring catchy composition and a positive message anyone can relate to. The jam collective’s frontman, Mike Clay, describes it as the “world’s first SoulHop tune,” blending elements of hip hop and soul, with a light touch of the group’s trademark dubby sound.

The lyrics of the song were inspired by the idea that you “don’t need” much more than the power of ambition to get where you want to be, despite the excuses and excesses we often create for ourselves. Shot in Ukraine by Montreal-based video crew @chantale, the video stars Mounia Zahzam and Simon Fournier as its playful lovebird protagonists.

We at Graphite really enjoyed both the tune and video’s immaculate production values, a natural progression in Clay and Friends’ already-impressive artistic development. So without further ado, hit play, sit back, and enjoy!
