The author challenges mainstream economic thought of trade liberalization arguing that it causes more harm than good for developing economies. Despite the discourse of equality of opportunity and freedom, the regulation of international trade falls in a few wealthy hands, and this inequality of wealth becomes a fundamental contradiction to free trade. As the author provides evidence of the least glamorous side of trade liberalization, he also suggests a few ways towards a more just system.
