Melodic Summer Series: August

As the month of August concludes our summer, so does it conclude Graphite’s Melodic Summer Series. In order to let the summer leave with the bang it deserves, I compiled all my favourite discoveries (and rediscoveries) I’ve made this last month. If you’re taking long plane rides, spending a lot of time alone, experiencing withdrawals from music festivals, or if you’re simply looking to end this month with a new tune or two, this playlist will come in handy. So open your mind, unplug your expectations, and give each tune a listen.

Arctic Monkey’s new song, featured in the playlist, is one I can’t help but repeating at least three times before being somewhat satiated by it – it’s a fun and catchy song, whose tripped-out video is worth checking out as well. Tourist.’s “Never Stop” is a tune that I recently rediscovered, and to my greatest delight it’s just as fresh and electrifying as the first time I ever listened to it. Notable as well, is a song by The Jones Rival, an Australian rock band with a psychedelic edgy twist, whose guitarist I met a few years ago in Soho, London. Another one of my favourite hand-me-down discoveries this summer was FAUVE, a French collective that recently released an amazing spoken-word EP called “Blizzard” – prepare yourself to be enthralled! Keep an eye out for Jesse Boykins III‘s suave track, get ready to be surprised by Koan Sound’s remix of Ed Sheeran’s radio hit “The A-Team”, and don’t skip The Rubens’, “Don’t Ever Want To Be Found” or Kings of Leon’s new song “Wait For Me.”

Next month marks the début of Graphite’s Autumn playlist, so if you have any track suggestions, leave a comment!
