Artwork by Mateja Drev
mute bodies etched like sand on paper
scream the white in hollow men
who huddle like penguins.
This picture seems to speak.
in scrabbled words of a conqueror
or liberator (who knows?)
the colorless picture whispers:
backward and in chains
I didn’t believe bush
I will remain in chains
until liberation
Enlightenment
education.
words in shambles.
retold in parts
but heard in hearts.
figuratively castrated and
scratching his pen behind bars,
with a tender hand
and a serene mind,
someone wrote:
proof of faith
and
love for freedom.
with puny stash and in bold font
one wish speaks
the chaplin reminder.
